Oh Joy!

Writer: Sarah TalbuttSarah Talbutt

I went to Canterbury Cathedral Archives today and actually got my work done. Yes it's had a coat of paint and hopefully the roof is more firmly attached than it was, but the lovely, benign atmosphere was just the same as it was a year ago with even the wonky printer still growling truculently in the corner, but more important still and unlike the "new, improved," Maidstone History and Library Centre we are still treated like intelligent, well-intentioned, people, trusted to find our own material, and amble about rummaging and asking for help when we need it, (and actually getting it,) rather than filling in a pink slip and waiting for half an hour only to notice somewhat ruefully that your blessed pink slip has not moved.

Only when I got home and saw the news did I realise that the new Archbishop was having quite a day there as well.
